Good Lobbies = GREAT Experiences
We've all been there. Great lobby spaces. The kind that sets the mood, gets you in the zone, that defines your vacation, workday, hospitality or living spaces. It's easy to open the door but how do we create the wow moment that so many clients seek? How do we really MAKE AN ENTRANCE

Keep it simple. Keep it sleek.

Project: Novotel Brisbane
Fixture: Hula

ygd_novotel brisbane_hula_13watchvideo2Today's traveler needs a break. Be it from physical exhaustion or mental stimulus. Often times, hotel lobbies act as the neutral buffer between our personal spaces and our entrance into the hustle bustle world. It's here that simple and effective designs can do some of their best work, allowing visitors to take a breather and soak in the surroundings. They take a moment to meditate or marvel at the line or curve of a perfectly sculptured light fixture. With our Novotel Brisbane project, the Hula fixture was an ideal candidate to add design dimension to a simple, fresh-faced space and welcome a weary traveler into a simpler mindset with repeated hoops and well-placed LEDs inside a brightly polished interior.

Green space is a serene space and whether it's a busy city hotel or the entrance to a multi-residential high rise, more and more lobby designs are planting seeds in natural trends. With an extensive range of "natural" designs to choose from, it's easy to see why lobbies at Hotel X in Toronto, and luxury multi res's Botanica and Melbourne Residences chose YGD to help grow their design gardens.

From our dripping Besa chandelier creating a crystal waterfall to our gorgeous gold arboreal, each piece complements the fauna and foliage perfectly. We work in a range of materials to create the perfect blend of fantasy and flora; be it in a flock of birds, a blooming burst, or a gust of autumnal air.

Design Statements: Adding Places to Spaces

Projects: 131 S Dearborn, Google Chicago, Bristol Meyer Squibb
Fixtures: Custom Chicago Screen, Custom Lighting Fixture, Custom Sculpture

ygd_131 S Dearborn_custom screen_076Screen Shot 2019-06-28 at 11.31.42 AMEverybody loves a good story. And it's often the job of the designer to convey that story using design details. Cue Yellow Goat Design and our ability to custom curate. Working with you, we create pieces that define the history and culture of places. Our full length, lit screens at 131 S Dearborn mimic the waterways of Chicago, welcoming guests and workers to the iconic downtown loop. At Google Chicago, you'll find a tongue in cheek reference not only to the history of the building - a former cold storage facility that took 6 months to defrost - but also to the unforgiving Chicago winters. At Bristol Myer Squibb's office in NJ, we took a literal approach by incorporating their logo into the ceiling plate of the sculpture and adding multi-color shapes to signify the diversity and innovation they celebrate.
